Integrating principles of transit oriented development in Bandra

Bandra as a neighbourhood has a vast disparity between the east and west. The potential for bandra as a major transit node lies in its cultural legacy and its strategic connectivity. Hence, Bandra station acts as a major node for development. The principles of transit oriented development (TOD) are applied to reimagine the area’s potential as a equitable environments and enhancing the mobility around the station. It focuses on reducing the disparity and creating a connectivity between the east and the west.

The key design interventions strategises a four-fold action plan that focused on the seamless connectivity around the transit hub, activation of open public spaces, development of residential mixed use blocks and the expansion of the land use pattern for the commercial zone. The project  proposes a mixed used neighbourhood in terms of user groups and programs to emphasizes on walkability and sustainable public and private transportation modes creating a 15-minute city.
