Situated at the confluence of seven roads called the Saat Rasta Junction in Mahalaxmi, this project envisions a social condenser that transforms the site into a hybrid typology which acts as a catalyst for enhancing social well being. The pressures of rapid urbanisation has lead to a developer based city which leads to exclusion and isolation. The project questions the current private model of redevelopment which leads to these homogeneous islands of gated communities.

The proposal for a social condenser as an architecture which seeks collective well being and inclusivity as the core principles of development. It acts as a critical model for private development to illustrate the role of urban architecture transforming its mere commercial objectives to benefiting the users of the city. It leads to a heterogeneous setting where public spaces are interwoven with private investments reflecting on city’s evolving cultural and social relations.
